Enhancing UVA's neuro technology
The UVA Brain Institute aims to fulfill its mission of fueling discovery by investing in technology. Last year, the Institute accepted proposals for shared equipment and awarded funds to purchase:
- 3i VIVO Spinning Disk Confocal Microscope. This shared instrumentation allows for new investigation and rapid and simultaneous imaging of large populations of neurons and glia which is expected to leverage new extramural grant support.
- Fourth Ring: Siemens Biograph 40 TruePoint PET/CT (mCT). The Brain Institute supported the purchase of a fourth ring for the research PET/CT scanner at Snyder to allow for whole brain imaging.
