The UVA Brain Institute acts under three main goals: fueling discovery, improving the human condition, and fostering the next generation of brain scientists and clinicians.
Aim 1. Fuel discovery.
The Brain Institute awards high impact seed grants to collaborative teams of researchers, invests in collaborative technology, and helps recruit top scientists. Please see our Research and Opportunities pages for more information about the actions the Institute is taking to fuel discovery.
Aim 2. Improve the human condition.
The Brain Institute aims to improve the human condition by moving discoveries from the lab to the clinic and fostering illustrative research programs. Please see our Research page for details about our research program areas.
Aim 3. Foster the next generation of brain scientists and clinicians.
The Brain Institute supports the Neuroscience Graduate & Undergraduate Program. The Institute has provided funding which has enabled increased admission to the NGP and provides support to help fund the NGP seminar series. The Institute also supports that President Fellowship in Collaborative Neuroscience program which promotes interdisciplinary research.
