First UVA Wise Neuroscience Pilot Grants Awarded!

The UVA Wise Neuroscience Committee offers the UVA Wise Neuroscience Pilot Grant program for transformative neuroscience research projects led by faculty at UVA Wise.
The purpose of the program is to tackle important questions, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and perform groundbreaking work that will enhance our research enterprise. Applications were evaluated based on the potential to promote the health and well-being of residents in Central Appalachia, scientific merit, and potential for future extramural funding.
In the inaugural cycle, four projects were selected for funding:
Dreaming of death: Dream content as a source of existential protection following mortality awareness

Modeling of genetic and environmental factors shaping phenotypes in the seizure-prone bang-sensitive fly mutant
