Join for a half-day of UVA neurodevelopment research!

2025 Neurodevelopment Research Retreat
Monday, October 13, 2025 | noon–4:30pm
Newcomb Hall – South Meeting Room
The annual neurodevelopment retreat, hosted by Drs. Sarah Kucenas and Howard Goodkin, will start with lunch available at noon, with the official program beginning at 12:30pm.
We are delighted to begin with a keynote given by Harris Kaplan, who will be joining the UVA faculty in Fall 2026.
The retreat will continue with a series of 3-minute faculty flash talks. All faculty attendees are invited to give a 3-minute flash talk on their research; each talk will have 3 minutes for questions and can be accompanied by 2 slides. If you'd like to give a flash talk, please indicate your interest in your RSVP or let Katie Pelland know directly.
The afternoon will have plenty of time for discussion and conclude with short presentations from new UVA faculty
Due to space limitations, faculty may register themselves and up to one member of their lab/research group (e.g., postdoctoral scholar, graduate student, research staff member, etc.).
We hope you can join us!
RSVP by Fri, 10/3
The annual retreat is one piece of the Grand Challenges Research Investment in Brain and Neuroscience, and Neurodevelopment has been identified as a priority area within the Grand Challenges. The first annual retreat in 2023 led to new monthly meetings for the UVA neurodevelopment community to discuss opportunities for collaboration and to enhance the overall research environment on Grounds.
Please contact the Brain Institute to learn more about ongoing and planned neurodevelopment research initiatives and to participate in future, related meetings.
