Neurodevelopment Retreat | October 15, 2024

Join for a half-day of the strategic discussions around the future of neurodevelopment research!

Join us for a half-day retreat around open questions in neurodevelopment research and UVA's unique strengths to move the field forward! 

The annual neurodevelopment retreat, hosted by Drs. Sarah Kucenas and Howard Goodkin, will be on Tuesday, October 15, in Holloway Hall in the School of Education and Human Development's Bavaro Hall. 

The retreat will start with light refreshments and coffee at 8am with the official program beginning at 8:30am. The morning of short presentations, discussions, and strategic planning will conclude at 1pm.

  • Michaela DuBay, Department of Human Sciences
  • Sameer Bajikar, Departments of Cell Biology and Biomedical Engineering

11:00-11:45 AM: Group Discussion

noon-1:00 PM: Working Lunch & Continued Discussion


The annual retreat is one piece of the Grand Challenges Research Investment in Brain and Neuroscience, and Neurodevelopment has been identified as a priority area within the Grand Challenges. Last year's retreat led to new monthly meetings for the UVA neurodevelopment community to discuss opportunities for collaboration and to enhance the overall research environment on Grounds.
